Hawk Creek Country Club is an absolute grass roots success that shows the power of community teamwork and involvement. Over 20 years ago, the good people of Raymond forged a vision for a healthier, safer, more enjoyable community in which to raise their kids and welcome their friends. This golf course is a shining example of what a dedicated group of people can accomplish when working together.
Led by the drive and desire of the original board members: Ken Damhof, Marilyn Goeman, Kevin Hauser, Duane Hultgren, Wayne Kluver, Larry Macht, Alan Teeple, Ron Ulferts, and Harry Zimmer; Hawk Creek Country Club has spread its wings from a fledgling course to a gathering place for friends and a popular summer destination in Kandiyohi County.
Opened in the summer of 1997, Hawk Creek Country Club has already welcomed over 200,000 rounds from local residents and area golfers. Make no mistake, though, core members have always been the difference here. We've shown that a small town course can survive - and thrive - if it has a big enough heart and strong local support.
The existing board has worked hard to keep our costs low while maintaining and improving the quality of our course. In the last five years, we have added new tee boxes on hole #6, hole #8, hole #1, hole #3, and hole #4. We've planted hundreds of trees, flowers, and bushes to beautify the course and add challenge, and we remodeled the clubhouse. But despite rising inflation and rate hikes seen at other courses, our rates have increased less than 2 percent per year since 1997 - plain and simple, other courses would be hard pressed to match our fiscal control and commitment to our members.
